Fighter vs Page vs Spearman: Which Warrior 2nd Job Should You Pick in MapleStory Classic World?
Our pick for most players is Fighter: it tops community level 70 Warrior models on both single-target damage and damage per MP, and Rage helps your party. Pick Page if you want a shield and mob control, and Spearman if you want the longest reach and a self-healing Final Attack. The gaps are small, so choose the playstyle you'll enjoy grinding for 40 levels.
This is a recommendation, not a fact sheet. It rests on these assumptions:
- Classic World at Grand Launch, where 2nd job is the end of the road. Third job isn't in the game yet, so we judge the 2nd job kits only, not Crusader, White Knight or Dragon Knight.
- Damage figures are a community DPS benchmark of level 70 builds ("realistic" community sets with Lesser scrolls) against a stationary target with 0 WDEF. They are not our own measurements, and real maps add misses, walking and defense.
- You'll mostly grind solo or in small parties on Victoria Island, and potion mesos matter to you.
- All three use STR, so your AP plan from 1st job carries over unchanged whichever you pick.
The three paths side by side
| Fighter | Page | Spearman | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weapons | Sword, axe | Sword, blunt | Spear, polearm |
| Signature skill | Rage: party +Attack Power | Threaten: slows up to 4 mobs, cuts WDEF | Iron Will: self +WDEF, knockback resist |
| Final Attack | Up to 3 mobs | 1 mob, big hit | 1 mob, heals you |
| Shield option | Yes (1H) | Yes (1H) | No |
| Reach (swing / stab, game data) | 74–110 px depending on weapon | 74–110 px depending on weapon | 120 / 130 px |
Weapons, buffs, Final Attack targets and reach are from the launch skill and item data. All three also get Rush (charge up to 6 mobs) at 2nd job, so it isn't a reason to pick one over another.
Damage and MP efficiency (community benchmark, level 70)
| Build | Power Strike damage/min | Damage per MP | Slash Blast on 6 mobs, damage/min |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fighter (2H axe) | 252,103 | 253.1 | 797,230 |
| Page (2H blunt) | 240,879 | 230.8 | 664,788 |
| Spearman (spear) | 219,030 | 203.3 | 592,472 |
The ranking is the same in every column: Fighter, then Page, then Spearman. The single-target spread is about 15% from top to bottom. The mobbing gap is bigger, because Fighter's axe bleed rolls separately on every Slash Blast target in the model. Damage per MP matters a lot in Classic World, where pots cost real mesos: the same source works out about 6.6 Lemons a minute just to keep Power Strike going at level 70.
Two caveats from the same source: the Spearman row is a spear build, and its own test has a polearm Spearman about 6.9% ahead of the spear on Power Strike. And all three damage numbers ignore enemy defense, where Spear Mastery's WDEF ignore and Page's Threaten would claw some ground back.
Pick Fighter if…
- You want the best damage per MP of the three, which means fewer potion runs and more mesos kept.
- You party a lot. Max Rage gives nearby party members +40 Attack Power for 300 seconds, and Final Attack hits up to three mobs.
- You like Slash Blast mobbing. The 3-target Final Attack (the other two branches' Final Attack hits one) adds about 12% in the community model when Slash Blast is hitting one to three, and axe Mastery adds a 25% bleed chance.
Downsides: short reach, constant face-tanking, and Rage also lowers WDEF (−40 at max) while it raises Attack Power. Full build in the Fighter guide.
Pick Page if…
- You want safety. A one-handed Page can carry a shield whose Guard fully blocks eligible physical hits (18.0% clean on Red Cross Shield, 27.7% on Gold Ancient Shield, per community figures).
- You like controlling the fight. Threaten slows up to four mobs by 35 Speed and cuts their WDEF by 10 for 30 seconds, so groups stay together for Slash Blast and reach you later.
- You want a crafted level 40 upgrade: Weaponcrafting makes the Titan two-handed blunt (65 W.ATK) at skill level 8, which needs character level 40.
Downsides: Threaten needs frequent recasts and only hits four mobs, and its WDEF cut does nothing for magic damage. Full build in the Page guide.
Pick Spearman if…
- You hate getting touched. Spears and polearms reach 120 px on a swing and 130 px on a stab in the item data, the longest of any weapon, so you start swinging before mobs connect.
- You want sustain. Final Attack heals 10% of the damage it deals.
- You want to tank hits: max Iron Will gives +50 WDEF and a 35% chance to ignore knockback for 300 seconds.
- You want to move faster: max Polearm Mastery gives +20 Movement Speed without a gear slot.
Downsides: lowest modeled damage of the three, no shield, and no party buff at 2nd job. Hyper Body is not available: it's listed as a 3rd job Dragon Knight skill, and the Spearman's 2nd job buff in both sources is Iron Will. Full build in the Spearman guide.
What about 3rd job?
Every Warrior branch has a 3rd job path through Tylus in El Nath, but third job and El Nath aren't in Classic World yet. Community guides report that Nexon plans a 3rd job test server in early 2027 with no release date; Nexon's own October note only says 3rd job may be introduced later. If you're picking based on what Crusader, White Knight or Dragon Knight were in old GMS, remember that Classic World has already changed Warrior skills from old GMS (Max HP Increase and Power Guard, for example), so wait for Classic's own 3rd job data before letting it decide.
Our take, by player type
- First character, playing mostly solo: Fighter. Best efficiency means smoother leveling on a tight potion budget.
- Nervous about dying, or bossing with friends: Page with a one-handed weapon and shield.
- Want the comfiest grind and don't care about top damage: Spearman with a polearm.
- Undecided at level 10: use a sword through 1st job. Both Fighter and Page can keep using it.
Leveling plans for each are in Fighter training spots, Page training spots and Spearman training spots. New to the class? Start with the Warrior 1–30 guide.
