Scroll Simulator

Want to know how your weapon would turn out before you burn the scrolls? Pick any item with upgrade slots, pick a scroll that fits it, and roll slot by slot with the real Classic World success rates: Lesser 100%, Intermediate 60%, Greater 10% and Chaos 10% (which can destroy the item). You see the stats you end up with, the slots left, and what to expect on average.

Fresh item. Hit the button to use a scroll.

Expected with 7 × Lesser: +7 Weapon attack (7 slots × 100% × +1). Chance every slot passes: 100%.

Caveats: success rates, stat bonuses and the Chaos destroy chance are read from each scroll's description in the Classic World game data, and slot counts from the item data. The simulator assumes a failed scroll still uses its slot (not confirmed for Classic). Starting stats are each item's base stats from the game data. Scroll prices only show where we have data (the crafting cost of craftable Lessers); shop and Free Market prices aren't included.

FAQ

How does the scroll simulator work?

Pick an item with upgrade slots and a scroll that fits it. Each click rolls one scroll with the success rate from the scroll's own game description: on a pass the stat bonus is added, and either way one upgrade slot is used. "Scroll all slots" keeps going until the slots run out (or the item breaks). Nothing is saved except your last item and scroll.

What are the success rates in Classic World?

Lesser 100%, Intermediate 60%, Greater 10%, Chaos 10%. Only Chaos scrolls can destroy the item: their description says the item has a 50% chance to be destroyed when the scroll fails.

How is the expected bonus calculated?

Slots × success rate × bonus. For example, 7 slots of a 60% scroll that gives +2 averages 7 × 0.6 × 2 = +8.4. For Chaos scrolls the tool also shows the chance the item survives every slot, because the expected bonus formula ignores that risk.

Does a failed scroll use up the slot?

The simulator assumes it does, as in the original game and in community simulators. Nobody has confirmed it from the Classic World game data, so test on a cheap item before you scroll something you care about.

Why can't I pick a pet equipment scroll?

The game data has Pet Equip Speed and Jump scrolls, but no pet equipment items to put them on, so they're left out (8 scrolls). Every other scroll is matched to its equipment type from the scroll's description ("Improves Weapon Attack on daggers").
