What Not to Sell: Items You'll Want Later

Before you vendor it: these 173 Etc and Use items are needed for quests or crafting in Classic World (133 by quests, 86 by crafting recipes). Search your item, set your level to see what you need now and what only matters later, and check the NPC price to see how little you'd really get for selling it. The most-wanted are Screw, Processed Leather and Spool of Thread.

173 of 173 items

How this list is built: every Etc and Use item that a quest asks you to hand in, or that a crafting recipe takes as an ingredient, from the Classic World game data. Items a quest gives you when you accept it are left out. Quest levels are each quest's minimum level. "Repeatable" quests (citizenship and crafting requests included) can ask for the same item again. Event quests only matter while the event runs. NPC prices are sell prices from the game files; Free Market prices can be much higher.

FAQ

Which items should I not sell in MapleStory Classic World?

173 Etc and Use items are asked for by a quest or used in a crafting recipe in the game data: 133 by quests, 86 by crafting, 46 by both. The ones used most are Screw, Processed Leather, Spool of Thread, Iron Ingot, Processed Cloth. If an item is on this list and you haven't done the quest or don't plan to craft, keep a stack.

Is it safe to sell items that aren't on the list?

As far as the quest and crafting data goes, yes: nothing in the game files asks for them. They can still be worth more on the Free Market than at an NPC, so check the item page for logged prices before you dump a big stack.

Why aren't quest letters and quest-only items on the list?

Items a quest hands you when you accept it (letters, boxes, samples: 51 of them in the data) aren't listed, because you can't farm them and the quest gives them back if you need them. Equipment and Setup items are left out too; this list is about the Etc and Use tabs.

What does "needed from level X" mean?

It's the lowest required level among the quests that ask for the item, from the quest data. Enter your level and the list marks which items you already need and which only matter later. Crafting ingredients aren't level-gated by character level the same way, so they always count as needed.

How much do I lose by keeping instead of selling?

The NPC sell price on each row is what an NPC shop pays you for one, from the game data. Most quest Etc items sell for a handful of mesos, so keeping a stack usually costs you very little.
