How we work
Classic World looks like the MapleStory we grew up with, but it isn't a 1:1 copy. Nexon's own team has said so: some old content comes back, some gets reworked, and some (like Citizenship and Forgotten Hollow) is brand new. That means a lot of "classic" info floating around from old GMS or private servers is simply wrong for Classic World. This is how we avoid adding to the pile.
1. Classic World only
Everything on this site is about MapleStory Classic World on Windia. When we mention old GMS, modern MapleStory or a private server, we label it, and we never pass it off as how Classic works.
2. Every fact has a source
Levels, NPCs, dates, rewards and rules come from Nexon's official notes, and each guide links its sources at the bottom. If Nexon's posts contradict each other (it happens), we show both and say which is newer.
3. What we measure ourselves
Some things Nexon never publishes: EXP per hour on a map, how often a monster drops an item, which spot is actually crowded on a Saturday night. Our team plays on Windia and is logging these in-game. Each measurement is published with:
- who measured it, on which character (job and level)
- the date and game version
- the sample size (a drop rate from 200 kills is shown as 200 kills, not dressed up as a precise percentage)
- screenshots as proof
No proof, no publish. Measurements logged so far: 0. They appear on the relevant guide pages as soon as they're in.
4. Game data
Our monster and map database is built from the Classic World v1.0.0 game data, as published by the community OSMS project. We only list content that is live in the game, and we use it to double-check numbers in our guides. Where older figures in circulation disagree with the launch data, we go with the launch data.
5. Patches
Classic World is a live game. After each patch we re-check the guides it touches and update the date at the top of the page.
