Equipment Guide by Level for MapleStory Classic World: Weapons for Every Class, 10–30
From level 10 to 25, every class can buy a new weapon every 5 levels from its job town's weapon shop: River in Perion (Warrior), Karl in Henesys (Bowman), Flora the Fairy in Ellinia (Magician) and Cutthroat Manny in Kerning City (Thief). At level 30 the shops stop and crafting takes over: every class has a level 30 craft, Warriors included (the Aluminum Baseball Bat). The Warrior-only level 30 weapons and the Reef Claw dagger have no shop, recipe or quest in the launch data. This page covers levels 10 to 30.
Quick answer: Upgrade your weapon first; armor can wait. Buy the shop weapon for your level at 10, 15, 20 and 25. At 30, craft (Bowman: Woodcrafting 6, Magician: Arcforge 6, Assassin and Warrior: Weaponcrafting 6) or buy from players. Warriors can craft the Aluminum Baseball Bat (50 W.ATK, about 9,020 mesos in fees and ores); the Warrior-only level 30 weapons and the Reef Claw dagger have no shop, recipe or quest in the launch data, so those are trade-only. Every class can also get a 10-slot Sauna Robe from a level 32 quest (Blue for male characters, Red for female).
How gearing works in Classic World
- Weapon first. Community class guides all say the same thing: weapon upgrades matter most, armor is mostly for stats and survival.
- Shop gear carries you to 25. One community Bowman guide is blunt about it: shop gear is enough through level 25, so don't burn mesos on tiny early upgrades.
- Levels only gate equipping. Most weapons also need STR, DEX, INT or LUK. Community guides note an item's own stats can't help you meet its requirement.
- Crafting is capped by your level. Your craft level can't go past what your character level allows: craft level 4 needs character level 20 and craft level 6 needs 30. Community sources report that crafting stops at craft level 8 at launch, which needs character level 40.
Where two sources give different W.ATK for the same weapon, we show both. Check the tooltip in game before you spend.
Warrior weapons (River, Perion)
| Level | One-handed | Two-handed | Spear / polearm | Price range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Long Sword (27 W.ATK) | Wooden Sword (30), Metal Axe (30) | Spear (32); Pole Arm (35) | 3,000–5,000 |
| 15 | Sabre (32), Battle Axe (32) | — | Fork on a Stick (37); Iron Ball (40) | 5,000–7,000 |
| 20 | Viking Sword (37) | Two-Handed Sword (40), Iron Axe (35) | Studded Polearm (42) | 10,500–13,500 |
| 25 | Mithril Axe (45) | Broadsword (45), Two-Handed Axe (45) | — | 13,500–16,500 |
| 30 | Gladius (47), Fireman's Axe (47), War Hammer (49) | Aluminum Baseball Bat (50, craft), Blue Axe (50), Mithril Maul (52), Scimitar (53) | Forked Spear (52), Mithril Pole Arm (55) | Bat: Weaponcrafting 6 craft; the rest: no shop, recipe or quest (see below) |
Where community sources disagreed on W.ATK, we checked the launch game files and used those values. Some community data still lists pre-launch values for some weapons.
Level 30 Warriors: craft the Aluminum Baseball Bat, or trade. The Aluminum Baseball Bat is a level 30 two-handed sword with 50 W.ATK, Fast speed and only a 55 STR requirement, and it has no class restriction. It's a Weaponcrafting 6 recipe (craft level 6 needs character level 30): 3 Iron Ingot + 3 Mithril Ingot + 18 Screw and a 6,500-meso fee. Costed from raw ore at NPC sell prices, that comes to about 9,020 mesos:
| Input | How it's made | Full cost |
|---|---|---|
| 3 Iron Ingot | Smithing 1: 5 Iron Ore (20 each) + 100 fee | 3 × 200 = 600 |
| 3 Mithril Ingot | Smithing 2: 5 Mithril Ore (40 each) + 200 fee | 3 × 400 = 1,200 |
| 18 Screw | Weaponcrafting 1: 1 Bronze Ingot + 1 Iron Ingot makes 10 screws, no fee (400 per batch of 10) | 720 (two batches, 800, if you craft them yourself) |
| Recipe fee | Weaponcrafting 6 | 6,500 |
| Total | ≈9,020 (9,100 out of pocket with two full screw batches) |
So you need Smithing (level 2 for Mithril Ingots) as well as Weaponcrafting 6, or you buy the ingots and screws from players.
The Warrior-only level 30 weapons exist in the launch data too, but none of them has a shop, crafting recipe or quest reward, and their drop source is not in the game data:
| Weapon | Type | W.ATK | Speed | Source in launch data |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gladius | 1H sword | 47 | Fast | none (trade) |
| Fireman's Axe | 1H axe | 47 | Fast | none (trade) |
| War Hammer | 1H blunt | 49 | Fast | none (trade) |
| Blue Axe | 2H axe | 50 | Fast | none (trade) |
| Mithril Maul | 2H blunt | 52 | Normal | none (trade) |
| Forked Spear | Spear | 52 | Slow | none (trade) |
| Scimitar | 2H sword | 53 | Normal | none (trade) |
| Mithril Pole Arm | Polearm | 55 | Slow | none (trade) |
All eight need level 30, and the two-handers, spear and polearm need 65 STR / 30 DEX (the one-handed axe and hammer need 60 STR / 25 DEX). If one shows up in the Free Market at a fair price, it's a straight upgrade over your level 25 shop weapon of the same type; otherwise the Bat is the level 30 weapon you can actually make.
Warrior armor worth knowing: Metal Koif (a Smithing 1 craft) and Juno gloves (Smithing 2) at level 10. The Steel Fitted Mail overall (level 15) is female-only in the game data, and the Kendo Robe line (level 20) is male-only. Harry in Perion sells Warrior armor.
Bowman weapons (Karl, Henesys)
| Level | Bow | Crossbow | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | War Bow (30 W.ATK) | Crossbow (32) | Karl, 5,000 each |
| 15 | Composite Bow (35) | Battle Crossbow (37) | Karl, 7,000 each |
| 20 | Hunter's Bow (42) | Balanche (39) | Karl, 13,500 each |
| 25 | Battle Bow (44) | Mountain Crossbow (47) | Karl, 16,500 each |
| 30 | Ryden (50, +1 STR) | Eagle Crow (52, +1 DEX) | Woodcrafting 6 craft |
Both sources agree on every Bowman weapon above. Sam in Henesys sells the matching hats and tops; community item data lists the useful gloves as Leatherworking crafts. Ammo is covered in throwing stars and arrows.
Magician weapons (Flora the Fairy, Ellinia)
| Level | Wand | Staff | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Wooden Wand (27 M.ATK) | Wooden Staff (24) | Flora, 3,000 each |
| 15 | Hardwood Wand (34) | Sapphire or Emerald Staff (31) | Flora, 5,000 each |
| 20 | Metal Wand (41) | Old Wooden Staff (38) | Flora, 10,500 each |
| 25 | Ice Wand (48) | Wizard Staff (45) | Flora, 13,500 each |
| 30 | Mithril Wand (55) | — | Arcforge 6 craft |
Each wand has 3 more M.ATK than the staff at the same level, which is why community guides recommend wands from 10 to 30. Serabi the Fairy, also in Ellinia, sells Magician hats and robes. Wands and staves are one-handed, so carry a shield: the Pan Lid (level 10, 44 weapon DEF) is a solid early pick.
Thief weapons (Cutthroat Manny, Kerning City)
Claws (Assassin path):
| Level | Claw | Price | W.ATK |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Garnier | 5,000 | 10 |
| 15 | Steel Titans | 7,000 | 13 |
| 20 | Steel Igor | 14,100 | 17 |
| 25 | Meba | 16,500 | 19 |
| 30 | Adamantium Guards | Weaponcrafting 6 craft | 23 |
Older claw numbers floating around are wrong for Classic. Some community data lists every claw about 10 W.ATK higher; the launch game files confirm the values above (Meba 19). Meba is the only speed-3 claw before 30. Star W.ATK stacks on top of the claw.
Daggers (Bandit path):
| Level | Dagger | W.ATK | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Triangular Zamadar | 28 | 3,000 |
| 15 | Field Dagger | 30 | 5,000 |
| 20 | Coconut Knife | 38 | 10,500 |
| 25 | Iron Dagger | 40 | 13,500 |
| 27 | Forked Dagger | 45 | 14,700 |
| 30 | Reef Claw | 48 | trade only (no shop, recipe or quest in launch data) |
Reef Claw is a dagger despite the name. Like the Warrior-only level 30 weapons, it has no shop, recipe or quest in the launch data, and its drop source is not in the game data. Trade for one or stay on the Forked Dagger.
Coconut Knife is 38 W.ATK in the launch game files (the 35 listed in older community data is outdated). Daggers are one-handed, so dagger Thieves can use a shield; claw users can't.
Level 30: Sauna Robes and 2nd job
At level 30 you take 2nd job (per Nexon), and every class can wear a Sauna Robe, with +1 to all four stats and 10 upgrade slots. It's the reward for the level 32 quest Returned Secret Book from Ronnie, who stands in The Tree Tunnel At the Forest Up North, north of Ellinia (the chain starts with Mr. Wetbottom in Sleepywood). There's no class requirement, but the robes are gendered in the game data: the Blue Sauna Robe is male-only and the Red Sauna Robe is female-only, and the quest hands each character the one it can wear. Same stats either way. Full route in how to get the Sauna Robe. That's the main reason to care: main-stat scrolls only exist for overalls, capes and earrings, so a 10-slot overall is the best place for STR, DEX, INT or LUK scrolls. See the scrolling guide.
After 30: what we can say so far
This page stops at 30. The shops stop at 25, so after 30 you're crafting, farming drops or trading. A few pointers for what comes next:
- One community take: from level 35 the best weapon for most classes is crafted or dropped, and a weapon you'll keep for 15–20 levels is where Intermediate scrolls pay off.
- The crafting cap is the real limit. With crafting reportedly capped at craft level 8 at launch, the highest crafts you can make need character level 40. Recipes at craft level 9 and 10 exist in the files but can't be made yet.
- Example, Assassin claws: the Guardian claws (level 35) are Weaponcrafting 7 crafts and Steel Avarice (level 40) is Weaponcrafting 8, per community item levels and recipe lists. The other Avarice claws and the level 50 Slain claws sit at Weaponcrafting 9–10, above the launch cap.
- Weapon scrolls from quests: two level 48 quests, Building a New House For Blackbull and Taking Out the Alligators 1, each let you pick one Greater attack scroll from your class's list. It's one scroll of your choice per quest, not one of each. (A level 39 "Welcome to the Hollow" quest is mentioned in some community lists, but it isn't in the launch quest data.)
- No 3rd job yet. Classic launched with 1st and 2nd job only, so your 30–70 gear is all 2nd-job gear for now.
We haven't found two sources that agree on a full post-30 weapon path for each class yet, so we're not going to guess. Until then, the crafting guide and where to get crafting materials are your best friends, and the Free Market is the other route.
For the cheapest good pick at each level, see best early weapons by class.
