MapleStory Classic November 4 Maintenance: Bot Detection and the New Megaphone Restriction
Classic World had another unscheduled maintenance on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, from 3:00 PM PST, with about two hours planned. Nexon posted the all-clear at 4:54 PM Pacific, and the patch is all about bots and spam.
Quick answer: the November 4 maintenance improved bot detection and prevention, and after a first-time NX purchase you can no longer use Megaphones (Megaphone, Super Megaphone, Item Megaphone, Double Item Megaphone) during the 96-hour Cash item trade restriction. The block covers every character on the account in that world and lifts when the trade restriction ends. Cash Shop items were extended by 2 hours. Restart the Nexon Launcher or Steam for the new client.
When it happened
All MapleStory Classic World game servers were offline. Nexon's planned window:
| Time zone | Maintenance window |
|---|---|
| PST (UTC -8) | Wed, Nov 4, 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM |
| EST (UTC -5) | Wed, Nov 4, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM |
| CET (UTC +1) | Thu, Nov 5, 12:00 AM - 2:00 AM |
| AEDT (UTC +11) | Thu, Nov 5, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM |
The completion notice went up at 4:54 PM Pacific, a little ahead of schedule. To cover the downtime, Cash Shop items in your inventory got 2 extra hours.
What changed
- Bot detection and prevention. Nexon "implemented improvements" to its anti-bot systems. No details on what exactly changed, which is normal for anti-bot work.
- Megaphones blocked during the first-NX-purchase trade restriction. After your first NX purchase, Cash items already sit under a 96-hour trade restriction. Now Megaphones are locked for that same window too:
- Applies to the Megaphone, Super Megaphone, Item Megaphone and Double Item Megaphone.
- Applies to all characters on the account in that world, not only the one that bought NX.
- Lifts automatically when the trade restriction ends.
What it means for players
For most of us this changes nothing. If you've had NX on the account for a while, your Megaphones work like before.
If you're about to buy NX for the first time, plan around it: you won't be able to shout a sale or a party call on Megaphone for those 96 hours on any character in that world. Post in the Free Market the old-fashioned way for a few days instead. Our Free Market trading guide and selling Cash items in the FM cover the basics.
Nexon didn't give a reason for the Megaphone change, but it shipped in the same patch as the bot detection work. For the rules on bots and real-money trading, see botting, bans and the Lie Detector and the Debt System from the October 22 patch.
Every earlier update is in the Classic World patch history.
