At 50 to 55, stay on the Kerning subway Wraith lines (Line 2 Area 3, Line 1 Area 4, Line 2 Area 2): nothing on-level packs as many monsters. If you want monsters closer to your level, use Clangs on Florina Beach or Crocos in Dangerous Croko II. From 57, the new skeleton camps past the Excavation Site are the maps built for your level; Sleepy Dungeon V has Dark Stone Golems, but they're a minority on a mixed map. Orbis and El Nath aren't in the game yet, so the 60s happen on Victoria Island.

Quick answer: Lv. 50 to 56: Line 2 (Area 3), 68 Wraiths, or Line 1 (Area 4), 59. Lv. 57 to 62: Camp 1 (20 Skeleton Soldiers, Lv. 57), or Sleepy Dungeon V if you can kill its mix of Golems, Lupins and Curse Eyes. Lv. 63+: Camp 3 (14 Officer Skeletons) if they die fast enough for you, else stay on the Wraith lines. Forgotten Hollow opens in November, per Nexon.

How these picks were made

Monster levels, HP, EXP, elements and spawn counts (×) are from the launch game data. Maps are ordered by density of the main mob, then by how fast a typical character at that level kills it. We don't rank by a theoretical "max EXP per hour" or by EXP per HP alone. Mixed level means another monster on the map is 10+ levels above the main one. A spawn count isn't how many monsters are alive at once: each map's data also sets a cap (shown below where it matters; see spawn rate and map capacity). All picks are class-neutral; check each monster's weakness against your skills.

Levels 50 to 55

On-level optionDangerous Croko IICroco (52) ×2421 Jr. Necki (21), 9 Slime (6)Over half the spawns are low-level filler
On-level optionClang and LorangClang (49) ×178 Lorang (38), 6 Tortie (46)Smaller version of Lorang and Clang

The Wraiths are now a few levels under you, but the density still wins. Maps with monsters nearer your level hold far fewer of them: Drake Hunting Ground has 18 Drakes. Wraiths are weak to holy; Clangs to lightning; Crocos to fire.

Holy users: Malady (Lv. 55) in The Forest of Evil II (23 Malady + 16 Zombie Lupin) and I (15 + 11) has the best EXP per HP of anything in this range (5.6 per 100 HP by our math), is weak to holy, and resists fire and ice. It's a niche pick: fewer than half the main mobs of the Wraith lines, and Maladies respawn on their own 60-second timer, not with each wave.

Levels 55 to 62

FallbackLine 2 (Area 3) / Line 1 (Area 4)Wraith (48)noneStill the densest maps you can farm

Skeleton Soldiers are level 57 with 3,872 HP and 183 EXP, undead and weak to holy, and have no MP (bring MP pots if you rely on MP Eater). Dark Stone Golems are level 58 with 5,428 HP and 192 EXP, weak to holy and resistant to fire and poison. The camps sit past Excavation Site I to III and two Remains maps, 12 maps out of Perion or Ellinia, so stock up before you go.

Levels 60 to 70

Victoria Island's 60s maps are small. These are the ones built around a level 60+ monster:

MapMain monster (Lv.)Other monstersNotes
Camp 3Officer Skeleton (63) ×146 Skeleton Soldier (57)5,976 HP, 242 EXP, holy-weak. Capped at 8 alive
Dangerous Valley IIRed Drake (60) ×178 Fire Boar (32), 5 Copper Drake (45)Red Drakes respawn on their own 20–60 second timers. Weak to ice, resist fire
Remains <Cliff>Commander Skeleton (73) ×143 Officer Skeleton (63)11,915 HP, 390 EXP. Holy-weak, resists ice, immune to poison. Late-60s at best
Wild Kargo's Area / Drake's Meal TableWild Kargo (62) ×14 / ×1017 Cold Eye (40) / 22 Cold Eye, 23 Drake (50)Kargos respawn on 120 s / 300 s timers
Sanctuary Entrance I to IVTauromacis (70) ×2–4, Taurospear (75) ×4–5mostly Cold Eyes (40)Only a handful per map, on 30–120 second timers

If none of these die fast enough for you, the Wraith lines and Sleepy Dungeon V remain the fallback: fewer EXP per kill (Wraith 122, Golem 192 versus 242 for an Officer Skeleton), but far more monsters.

Excavation Site (Perion). Nexon added this area at Grand Launch with eight monsters: Ghost Stump, Wooden Mask, Rocky Mask, Skeledog, Mummydog, Skeleton Soldier, Officer Skeleton and Commander Skeleton. The first three are low-level (19–24, Excavation Site I to III); Skeledog (44) and Mummydog (47) live in the Remains <Tomb> maps; the skeletons are in the Camps and Remains <Cliff> above.

Why it gets slow, and what's coming

  • The level cap is 100, per Nexon, but the launch world is Maple Island and Victoria Island only.
  • Orbis, El Nath and 3rd job aren't in the game at launch. Nexon's Ossyria Exploration Report says they'll be reworked and introduced "gradually at an appropriate time", and Inkwell later said 3rd job and "certain regions" may be introduced sequentially. No date. See are Orbis and El Nath in Classic World?.
  • Forgotten Hollow opens in November, per Nexon. Community sources report its monsters run from level 39 to 59, with a Rotten Mushmom boss at 60 (unverified until it opens). See the Forgotten Hollow guide.
  • Quests still pay. The level 57 Citizen of Honor quests (Citizenship Grade 10+ in that town) give 12,460 to 17,800 EXP each, one time, and each of John's three Deep Forest of Patience quests at 65 gives 25,900 EXP once (about 1.6% of level 65). See quests worth doing and the jump quests guide.

Frequently asked questions

Where should I train at level 50 in MapleStory Classic World?
The Wraith lines in the Kerning subway: Line 2 (Area 3) with 68 Wraiths, Line 1 (Area 4) with 59, or Line 2 (Area 2). If you'd rather fight on-level monsters, Clangs on Lorang and Clang or Crocos in Dangerous Croko II.
Where do I train at level 55 to 60?
Camp 1 past the Excavation Site (20 level 57 Skeleton Soldiers) is the map built for this range. Sleepy Dungeon V has 19 Dark Stone Golems, but most of its monsters are far lower level. The Wraith lines remain the densest fallback.
Is there anywhere good to train at level 60+ in Classic?
Camp 3 (14 level 63 Officer Skeletons) and Dangerous Valley II (17 Red Drakes) are the maps built for the 60s, but they're small. Many players stay on the Wraith lines or Sleepy Dungeon V for density.
Can I train in El Nath in Classic World?
No. El Nath and Orbis aren't in the launch game, and Nexon hasn't given a date.
When does Forgotten Hollow open?
Nexon's Grand Launch notes say November 2026. Community sources report monsters from level 39 to 59; that's unconfirmed until it opens.
