Forgotten Hollow Guide: Release Date, Monsters, Quests and Rotten Mushmom (MapleStory Classic World)
Forgotten Hollow is a new area made only for Classic World, and it isn't open yet. Nexon's Grand Launch notes say the path there "hasn't been discovered yet" and that the area opens in November. Test-build and pre-launch data describe a cave below Ellinia's forest with ten new monsters (levels 39 to 59), a fairy town, four quest chains and a level 60 boss, Rotten Mushmom. The monsters are already in the launch game files, but none is placed on a live map. All of it can change before release.
Quick answer: Not open at launch. Nexon says November 2026. Community reports from the MapleStory Fest 2026 dev panel put it at November 18. Expect monsters from level 39 to 59 and a level 60 boss, based on test data.
What's official (Nexon)
- Not available at Grand Launch. Per the release notes, the path to Forgotten Hollow hasn't been discovered yet.
- Opens in November 2026. That's the only date in Nexon's written posts.
- Original to Classic World. In his October interview, Inkwell named Forgotten Hollow, along with Citizenship, as content created specifically for Classic World and shown in the Closed Online Tests.
That's everything Nexon has put in writing. The rest of this page is unofficial.
Release date: what the community reports
Two community sites both report that Nexon's dev panel at MapleStory Fest 2026 gave November 18 for Forgotten Hollow, and December 9 for a new Forgotten Hollow party quest from level 41. Those come from a live presentation, not a written post. We'll call them confirmed when Nexon publishes them.
Everything below is test-build and pre-launch data. It comes from the closed tests, from data community sites recorded before launch, and from monster, map and item entries that sit in the launch game files without being placed in the live world. Monsters, quests, rewards and numbers can change when the area actually opens.
Getting in (test data)
A map called The Tree Tunnel At the Forest Up North is already in the game files (not reachable yet), and a community database names it the front door, off The Forest North of Ellinia, reached through the Ellinia-side quests. A community recap of the Fest panel mentions two ways in: through the tree dungeon near Ellinia, or from deep inside Sleepywood. The item data already has a Return Scroll to Forgotten Hollow (NPC sell price 400 mesos).
The monsters (test data)
Ten new monsters plus a boss. All ten are in the launch game files, flagged as not placed in the world; the levels, HP, EXP and elements below are from those files, and community pre-launch lists give the same names:
| Monster | Lv. | HP | EXP | Weak to | Resists |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Glowshroom | 39 | 1,377 | 82 | None | None |
| Raffle | 40 | 1,722 | 85 | Fire | Ice |
| Golden Stirge | 42 | 1,278 | 93 | None | None |
| Aqumander | 43 | 2,069 | 98 | Lightning | Ice |
| Echopus | 45 | 2,163 | 107 | Lightning | None |
| Rafflesia | 47 | 2,285 | 117 | Fire | Ice, poison |
| Duskmander | 50 | 2,682 | 133 | Ice | Poison |
| Myewood | 54 | 3,924 | 160 | Fire | Lightning |
| Rotten Mushroom | 56 | 3,520 | 183 | Holy | Poison |
| Sporewood | 59 | 4,834 | 201 | Holy, fire | Poison |
Community sources flag two monsters:
- Myewood has a ranged attack based on its 306 attack (game files). One community source says it hits just as hard at range as up close; another says the ranged attack uses 125% of that stat, so it may hit harder. Either way, distance won't save you.
- Sporewood regenerates HP, per community sources, which call it the toughest regular monster in the area.
The game files flag Rotten Mushrooms and Sporewoods as undead, so a Cleric's Heal should damage them.
The boss: Rotten Mushmom (test data)
An undead, corrupted take on Mushmom. The game files already hold her stats; community sources add the rest:
| Game files | Community reports | |
|---|---|---|
| Level | 60 | 60 |
| HP | 86,400 | 86,400 |
| EXP | 844 | 844 (one recap says 852) |
| Weak to | Holy, fire | Holy, fire |
| Resists | Poison | Poison |
| Undead | Yes | Yes |
| Attack | 752 physical, 827 magic | same |
| HP regen | not in our data | 864 per tick |
| Respawn | 3,600 s (60 minutes) | 1 to 1.5 hours |
One community database places her in Someone Else's Grave, a hidden map off Decayed Tunnel I, and community guides recommend a full party with potions rather than trying her solo.
Quests (test data)
One community database records 15 quests in four chains, starting at level 39 with Grendel the Really Old in Ellinia's Magic Library and ending back with him. A second community quest list matches the Zelya and Myra parts. None of these quests is in the launch quest data. Rewards worth knowing, where the two community lists agree:
| Quest | Lv. | Giver | Notable reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zelya's Map | 39 | Zelya | Entry to Zelya's chain |
| Natural Adhesive | 39 | Zelya | Raffle Petals hand-in; leads to The Road Back Home |
| The Road Back Home | 43 | Zelya | Random Greater earring stat scroll (STR, DEX, INT or LUK) |
| Matters of the Heart | 45 | Nyroth | Cape Accuracy Scroll, Intermediate or Greater |
| A Heart of Stillness and Wood | 50 | Daniel the Scholar | Bottomwear HP Scroll: Greater, Elixirs |
| Old Friends / Myra's Old Friend | 49 | Myra | Myra's chain ends back with Grendel |
A Heart of Stillness and Wood reportedly asks for 30 Cursed Dolls, on top of the 570 that Rowen the Fairy's live chain uses (50 + 70 + 100 + 150 + 200 in the quest data), so don't vendor your extras. One community database says finishing Welcome to the Hollow at the end of the Ellinia chain unlocks the other three chains at once. We're not printing per-quest EXP here: that same source's guide and quest database list different EXP values for the same Hollow quests, a sign the numbers are still moving.
The town (test data)
One community database describes Forgotten Hollow itself as a monster-free fairy town with an Arcane Station for Arcforge crafting, storage, and one shop run by Luma, which it lists selling potions and a Return Scroll to Forgotten Hollow for 800 mesos.
Who will like it (test data)
Going by the elements above:
- Ice/Lightning Wizards: Aqumanders and Echopuses (lightning) and Duskmanders (ice).
- Fire/Poison Wizards: Raffles, Rafflesias, Myewoods and Sporewoods are weak to fire, but Rafflesia, Duskmander, Rotten Mushroom, Sporewood and Rotten Mushmom resist poison.
- Clerics: Rotten Mushrooms, Sporewoods and Rotten Mushmom are undead and weak to holy.
- Physical classes: no special edge, but it fills the level 40 to 59 gap where Victoria Island is thin. Compare with where to train from 30 to 50 and 50 to 70.
How to get ready now
- Be level 39 or higher for the opening quests, and 49 to 50 for the later ones.
- Keep a stack of Cursed Dolls (from Zombie Lupins) and bring fire, holy or lightning damage if your class has it.
- Watch Nexon's patch notes in November. We'll update this page and drop the "test data" labels once the area is live.
