Where to Train from Level 30 to 50 in MapleStory Classic World (Any Class)
From 30 to 40, train on the Kerning City subway's Jr. Wraiths: Line 2 (Area 1) packs 83 of them, the most of any main mob in this level range. From 41 to 45, move to Zombie Lupins in the Monkey Forest tree dungeons or Monkey Swamp III. From 46 to 50, go back underground to the Wraith lines: Line 2 (Area 3), Line 1 (Area 4) and Line 2 (Area 2).
Quick answer: Lv. 30 to 40: Line 2 (Area 1), Jr. Wraith ×83. Lv. 41 to 45: Tree Dungeon, Monkey Forest II or Monkey Swamp III, Zombie Lupins. Lv. 46 to 50: Line 2 (Area 3), Wraith ×68, or Line 2 (Area 2). Crowded? Change channel before you change map.
How these picks were made
Monster levels, HP, EXP and spawn counts (×) are from the launch game data. Maps are ordered by density of the main mob first, then by how fast a typical character at that level kills it (one or two hits beats three). We don't rank by a theoretical "max EXP per hour" or by EXP per HP alone: a packed map of mobs you two-shot beats a sparse map of better-ratio mobs. Where community training guides agree or disagree, we say so without leaning on their scores.
Mixed level means another monster on the map is 10+ levels above the main one. Everything assumes solo play; parties change the math. Class-specific picks live on the class pages (Warrior, Magician, Bowman, Thief).
Levels 30 to 35
| Pick | Map | Main monster (Lv.) | Other monsters | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Best | Line 2 (Area 1), Kerning City Subway | Jr. Wraith (34) ×83 | 14 Jr. Necki (21) | Densest map in the range; community guides also put it on top |
| Alternative | Line 1 (Area 2) | Jr. Wraith (34) ×69 | 21 Stirge (20) | Usually quieter |
| Alternative | The Burnt Land V | Fire Boar (32) ×26 | 12 Lupin (37), 10 Dark Axe Stump (23) | Best non-subway option; Fire Boars have 140 less HP than Jr. Wraiths |
| Alternative | Tree Dungeon, Forest Up North IX | Curse Eye (33) ×20 | none | Pure Curse Eye, but the map data caps it at 6 alive at once. Quiet, not fast |
Community sources report that Fire Boars drop Arwen's Glass Shoe (the game data has no drop tables). The repeatable Arwen and the Glass Shoe quest (Lv. 29) pays 4,430 EXP and 921 mesos per shoe, so the Burnt Land is a good pick if you want mesos too. The Forest Up North tree dungeons are narrow shafts north of Ellinia.
Levels 36 to 40
| Pick | Map | Main monster (Lv.) | Other monsters | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Best | Line 2 (Area 1) / Line 1 (Area 2) | Jr. Wraith (34) ×83 / ×69 | see above | Still the densest; Jr. Wraiths die faster as you level |
| Alternative | A Look-Out Shed Around the Beach, Florina Beach | Lorang (38) ×36 | 27 Lupin (37) | 63 spawns within a level of each other, but the Lupins respawn on a 60-second timer, not with each wave |
| Alternative | Lorang Lorang, Florina Beach | Lorang (38) ×35 | 5 Lupin (37) | Almost pure Lorang |
| Alternative | Monkey Forest II | Zombie Lupin (41) ×25 | 10 Lupin (37) | Early start on the 41–45 mob |
This is the band where community guides split: one keeps you on Jr. Wraiths, another sends you to the Florina Beach crab maps for their density. Lorangs have 1,714 HP to a Jr. Wraith's 982, so stay on Jr. Wraiths unless you kill Lorangs in two hits. If you have a lightning attack, Lorangs are weak to it, which tips the choice to the beach.
Watch out: Sleepy Dungeon V looks like a Curse Eye and Lupin map (23 of each), but 19 level 58 Dark Stone Golems share it. Save it for much later.
Levels 41 to 45
| Pick | Map | Main monster (Lv.) | Other monsters | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Best | Monkey Swamp III | Zombie Lupin (41) ×31 | 11 Jr. Necki (21) | Most Zombie Lupins on one map |
| Best | Tree Dungeon, Monkey Forest II | Zombie Lupin (41) ×26 | 4 Curse Eye (33) | Almost pure; community guides say fewer players know about it |
| Alternative | Tree Dungeon, Monkey Forest I | Zombie Lupin (41) ×26 | 5 Curse Eye (33) | Same layout one map earlier |
| Alternative | Dangerous Valley | Fire Boar (32) ×21 | 13 Copper Drake (45) | Mixed level (Copper Drake 13 above). Both are weak to ice |
Community guides call 41 to 45 the hardest bracket to grind, with gear starting to decide your clear speed, and point to Zombie Lupins (no weapon defense in the game data) as the forgiving option. Zombie Lupins are undead and weak to holy.
Watch out: The Tunnel That Lost Light I has 32 level 40 Cold Eyes, but 20 level 50 Drakes share the same tunnel.
Levels 46 to 50
| Pick | Map | Main monster (Lv.) | Other monsters | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Best | Line 2 (Area 3) | Wraith (48) ×68 | none | Densest pure Wraith map |
| Best | Line 1 (Area 4) | Wraith (48) ×59 | none | Pure Wraith backup |
| Alternative | Line 2 (Area 2) | Wraith (48) ×57 | 32 Jr. Wraith (34), 18 Jr. Necki (21) | Most spawns in the subway (107), but almost half aren't Wraiths. Good bridge if you two-shot Wraiths and one-shot Jr. Wraiths |
| Alternative | Hot Sand, Florina Beach | Tortie (46) ×25 | 13 Clang (49) | Off-subway option |
Wraiths are undead and weak to holy. Line 2 (Area 3) is six maps from Kerning City (Ticketing Booth, Line 1 Area 1, Transfer Area, Line 2 Areas 1–3), so carry plenty of potions. Note that a spawn count isn't how many mobs are alive at once: the subway lines are capped at 17–18 in the map data (see spawn rate and map capacity).
Monster reference
Stats are from the launch game data. EXP per 100 HP is our arithmetic; use it as a tiebreaker, not a ranking.
| Monster | Lv. | HP | EXP | EXP per 100 HP | Weak to |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ligator | 31 | 853 | 58 | 6.8 | Fire |
| Fire Boar | 32 | 842 | 60 | 7.1 | Ice |
| Curse Eye | 33 | 1,001 | 63 | 6.3 | None (resists poison) |
| Jr. Wraith | 34 | 982 | 66 | 6.7 | Fire, holy |
| Lupin | 37 | 1,336 | 75 | 5.6 | None |
| Lorang | 38 | 1,714 | 78 | 4.6 | Lightning |
| Zombie Lupin | 41 | 1,774 | 89 | 5.0 | Holy |
| Copper Drake | 45 | 2,595 | 107 | 4.1 | Ice |
| Tortie | 46 | 2,671 | 111 | 4.2 | None listed |
| Wraith | 48 | 2,350 | 122 | 5.2 | Holy |
| Clang | 49 | 2,899 | 127 | 4.4 | Lightning |
Quick tips
- Density beats ratio. Jr. Wraiths give less EXP per HP than Fire Boars, but Line 2 (Area 1) holds 83 of them against 26 Fire Boars on The Burnt Land V. That's why the subway wins: more kills per minute beats a better ratio.
- Use your element. Holy hits Jr. Wraiths, Zombie Lupins and Wraiths; fire hits Jr. Wraiths and Ligators; ice hits Fire Boars and Copper Drakes; lightning hits Lorangs and Clangs.
- Do your quests on the way. Rowen the Fairy's Cursed Doll chain (Lv. 36, after the Ronnie chain ending with Returned Secret Book) runs on Zombie Lupin kills, and Shumi's Construction Site jump quests open at 35. See quests worth doing.
