You can create up to 3 characters per account in MapleStory Classic World. Nexon's Grand Launch notes give that number, and it's the same limit both Closed Online Tests used. If you delete a character, there's a waiting period before it actually leaves your account.

Quick answer: 3 slots. Your regular MapleStory characters don't come with you and can't be transferred. Housing and storage are shared across your characters, and several rewards are once per account, not once per character.

Three slots, one world

Classic World runs on a single world, Windia. Nexon expanded it to 40 channels for Grand Launch. So there's no "make three more on another server" trick: three is the whole budget.

With four classes and ten 2nd job paths, that's a real decision. The usual plan is one main, plus one or two characters for something your main can't do (a Cleric for party heals, a Thief for a different playstyle, a storage mule). Choose your 1st job carefully, because a job advancement can't be undone. See can you change your job.

Deleting a character

Nexon's notes only say there's "a waiting period" before a deleted character is removed from your account. They don't say how long. Don't count on freeing a slot the same minute you hit delete.

What your characters share

Shared across the accountSource
Your house in Henesys or Kerning CityNexon: housing is shared by all characters on the account
StorageCommunity sources agree storage is one shared bank per account
The new-account trade restrictionNexon: trading opens 24 hours after a character on the account reaches level 15
Event check-ins like The Journey BeginsNexon: rewards can be claimed once per account per check-in day
Your Founder's PackageNexon: once per account on each platform

Storage is the easy way to hand gear and mesos from one character to another. You can only own one home at a time, and every character on the account uses it. Citizenship works the same way according to one community database (one citizenship for the whole account), so an alt doesn't get its own separate town grade. More in our citizenship and housing guide.

What is not shared with regular MapleStory

Classic World and MapleStory run under one Nexon account, but almost nothing crosses over:

  • Characters: separate. No transfers into Classic World, everyone starts fresh.
  • Names (IGNs): not shared. A name taken in MapleStory can still be free in Classic World, and the other way around.
  • NX: shared. It's the only thing Nexon lists as shared.
  • Bans: shared. A sanction on the account applies in both worlds.

Can you buy more slots?

Not as far as anyone can see. Nexon's Founder's Access and Grand Launch Cash Shop posts list slot coupons for storage and inventory tabs, but no character slot item. If Nexon adds one, we'll update this page.
