Assassin Training Spots by Level (30โ70+) in MapleStory Classic World
Short version: Stirges and the Ant Tunnel in the early 30s, Jr. Wraiths in the Kerning subway and Lorangs on Florina Beach in the mid to late 30s, Zombie Lupins around 40, Wraiths on Line 2 from the high 40s, then Sleepy Dungeon V from 55. An Assassin can't mob, so the right map is one where the common mobs die in one or two Lucky Sevens and the spawns are dense.
Rule of thumb for claws: pick dense maps with mobs you can kill in 1โ2 casts on your lowest roll, with a 100% hit rate, and close to a star recharge and pot shop. A higher-level mob that needs a third cast usually loses.
What makes a good Assassin map
- No AoE. Assassins have no multi-target attack in 1st or 2nd job, so EXP comes from killing single mobs fast. Density and kill breakpoints matter more than mob level.
- Range is your defense. Lucky Seven lets you stand on a platform and throw. One community training calculator applies a smaller danger penalty to ranged attacks, so "Caution" maps are fine for you in a way they aren't for a Bandit.
- Flyers are fair game. Lucky Seven reportedly reaches flying mobs like Stirges.
- Refills cost EXP. Stars and pots both run out. A map next to Kerning City or a Sleepywood shop can beat a slightly better map far away.
- Accuracy gates. ACC for a guaranteed hit at equal level, from the mob's avoid in the game data and the community hit-rate formula our database uses: Jr. Wraith (Lv 34) 82, Lorang (Lv 38) 79, Zombie Lupin (Lv 41) 95, Wraith (Lv 48) 104, Croco (Lv 52) 101, Dark Stone Golem (Lv 58) 101. Each level you're below the mob adds roughly 3 to 4 ACC: a level 45 Assassin needs 117 for Wraiths.
Spots by level
The maps below appear in two community training rankings unless marked. "Calculator" rows come from a community training calculator's runs on its own sample Assassin builds, so treat them as one source.
| Level | Map | Main mobs | Why it fits an Assassin |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30โ35 | Transfer Area / Dangerous Steam | Stirge (Lv 20) | Calculator: one Lucky Seven per Stirge at level 30. Transfer Area is next to Kerning. |
| 30โ35 | Ant Tunnel III | Zombie Mushroom (Lv 24) ร61, Horny Mushroom (Lv 22) ร38 | The densest map in the Ant Tunnel (99 spawns), 3 maps from Sleepywood. The calculator's level 35 sample one-shots these mushrooms (it picked Ant Tunnel II, 47 spawns, from the same pair). |
| 32โ40 | Line 2 <Area 1> | Jr. Wraith (Lv 34) | 83 Jr. Wraith spawns. The consensus 30s map. Short walk to Kerning. |
| 36โ42 | A Look-Out Shed Around the Beach | Lorang (Lv 38) ร36, Lupin (Lv 37) ร27 | 63 spawns, one map from Florina Beach for pots |
| 40โ45 | Deep Ant Tunnel I / Ant Tunnel Park (Calculator) | Zombie + Horny Mushroom, Evil Eye (Lv 27) | 68 and 58 spawns; one-shots on the Lv 22โ27 mobs at the level 40 checkpoint (the calculator named Ant Tunnel Park and the thinner Deep Ant Tunnel II, 34 spawns) |
| 38โ44 | Monkey Swamp III | Zombie Lupin (Lv 41) ร31, Jr. Necki ร11 | The densest Zombie Lupin map. Zombie Lupins have a magic attack in the data (M.ATK 242), so bring pots. |
| 44โ55 | Line 2 <Area 2> | Wraith (Lv 48) ร57, Jr. Wraith ร32, Jr. Necki ร18 | 107 spawns, the densest map in the subway. Both sources call it the best map on Victoria Island |
| 46โ55 | Line 2 <Area 3> / Line 1 <Area 4> | Wraith (Lv 48) | Pure Wraith maps, 68 and 59 spawns; good if Area 2 is packed |
| 47โ55 | Lorang and Clang | Clang (Lv 49) ร29, Lorang ร18 | 47 spawns. Beach alternative to the subway |
| 50โ55 | Tree Dungeon, Forest Up North IX (Calculator) | Curse Eye (Lv 33) ร20 | Model pick only: Curse Eyes die in one cast at 50, but it's 17 levels under you and just 20 spawns. Try the Wraith maps first. |
| 52โ58 | Dangerous Croko II | Croco (Lv 52) ร24, Jr. Necki ร21, Slime ร9 | On-level Crocos, 4 maps from Sleepywood |
| 55โ70 | Sleepy Dungeon V | Curse Eye ร23, Lupin ร23, Dark Stone Golem (Lv 58) ร19, Jr. Boogie ร10 | 88 spawns, the go-to map past 55 in both sources. Mixed-level: the Golems are 21โ25 levels above the rest. |
| 57โ65 | Camp 1 / Camp 3 | Skeleton Soldier (Lv 57) ร20 / Officer Skeleton (Lv 63) ร14 | The only maps built around Lv 57โ63 mobs, but 12โ14 maps from Perion or Ellinia and just 20โ25 spawns |
| 60โ70 | Monkey Forest II / The Forest of Evil II (Calculator) | Zombie Lupin + Lupin / Malady (Lv 55) + Zombie Lupin | All spawns die within two Lucky Sevens at the checkpoints. Monkey Forest II's Lv 37โ41 mobs are far under you, so it's a speed pick, not an EXP pick. |
| 60+ | Dangerous Valley II | Red Drake (Lv 60) ร17 | The only Red Drake map; the data gives them a timed respawn (20โ60 seconds) |
Levels 30โ40: Stirges, then the subway
You arrive at 30 still throwing Lucky Seven with a level 30 claw, so the Stirge maps from your 20s are still good. The calculator's level 30 sample one-shots Stirges at Transfer Area. Expect crowds; Stirge maps were the most popular Lucky Seven spots in the closed tests.
From the early 30s, Line 2 <Area 1> is where everyone goes: 83 Jr. Wraith spawns on long platforms, a short walk from Kerning City's pharmacy and star shops. If it's full, Line 1 <Area 2> has the same mob, and it's reportedly usually quieter.
Late 30s, head to Florina Beach. A Look-Out Shed Around the Beach has 63 spawns (36 Lorangs, 27 Lupins) and is the first map out of town.
Levels 40โ50: the awkward stretch
Community data calls 41โ45 the hardest bracket to grind, where gear starts to decide your clear speed. Two good paths:
- Stay in the Ant Tunnel and farm one-shot mushrooms while your Critical Throw climbs (the calculator's picks at 40 and 45).
- Move to Monkey Swamp III for Zombie Lupins, if your accuracy is there. Check the 95 ACC figure above.
Once you can reliably two-shot Wraiths (the calculator suggests around 47โ48), move to the subway.
Levels 47โ60: Wraith subway, then Sleepy Dungeon V
Line 2 <Area 2> is the top map on Victoria Island in both sources, a mix of Wraiths and Jr. Wraiths. Line 2 <Area 3> and Line 1 <Area 4> are pure Wraith maps if it's busy. The calculator's model keeps the Wraith maps ahead of every on-level map into the mid 50s, so there's no rush to leave.
From 55, Sleepy Dungeon V takes over. It's a mixed-level map: 19 Dark Stone Golems (Lv 58, 5,428 HP) are the EXP draw, while 23 Curse Eyes and 23 Lupins (Lv 33 and 37) fill the platforms in between and die fast to Lucky Seven. The calculator's runs on its sample Assassin also like Tree Dungeon, Forest Up North IX around level 50, so it's worth comparing with your gear.
Levels 60โ70+: thin pickings
Victoria Island runs thin in the 60s. Dangerous Valley II is the only Red Drake (Lv 60) map, with a timed respawn in the data. The skeleton maps past the Excavation Site are on-level but far from town: Camp 1 (20 Skeleton Soldiers, Lv 57, 111 ACC at equal level) and Camp 3 (14 Officer Skeletons, Lv 63, 120 ACC). Wild Kargo's Area has 14 Wild Kargos (Lv 62) on a 120-second respawn, and the Tauromacis (Lv 70) and Taurospear (Lv 75) at the Sanctuary Entrance maps come 2 to 5 per map on 30 to 120-second timers. Most players stay on Sleepy Dungeon V or the Wraith maps. The calculator also likes Monkey Forest II and The Forest of Evil II for its 60โ70 sample builds, because everything there dies in two casts.
Red Drakes are worth a look for another reason: community drop data lists them as a Steely Throwing Knives drop.
How to check a map for your build
- Count casts per kill on the main mob, on a bad roll. One or two is the goal.
- Check you never miss. If you do, out-level the mob or use an accuracy potion.
- Time the walk to pots and star recharge. Community map data lists portals-to-pots for every map.
- Have a backup map. Every popular spot on this list gets crowded.
