Jane the Alchemist is a 3-quest chain from Jane in Lith Harbor, open at level 44 once you've done her level 20 Jane and the Mushroom. She's decided to become an alchemist, and you're her supplier. It pays 29,820 EXP (about 7% of a level at 44), 4,167 mesos, 10 Elixirs, 15 Power Elixirs and a random glove attack scroll.
Quick answer: Start: Jane, Lith Harbor, Lv 44 (needs Jane and the Mushroom). Rewards by step: 10 Elixirs → 15 Power Elixirs → one random glove scroll (Attack or Magic Attack, Intermediate or Greater, 25% each). Each step pays 9,940 EXP (about 2.3% of a level at 44) and 1,389 mesos. Heads-up: the kill targets go above the quest level (Drake Lv 50, Malady Lv 55) and step 2 needs a Mushmom Spore. The game data has no drop source for it; the item text calls it "a spore from Mushmom", so the Lv 40 boss is the likely source (unverified).

Where to hunt
Densest maps first (spawn counts from the game data):
- Copper Drake (Lv 45): East Rocky Mountain VII (22), Dangerous Valley (13), Dangerous Valley II (5; mixed-level: 17 Lv 60 Red Drakes). East Rocky Mountain VII also has 15 Dark Axe Stumps for step 3.
- Wraith (Lv 48): Line 2 <Area 3> (68), Line 1 <Area 4> (59), Line 2 <Area 2> (57), Line 1 <Area 3> (48). The two biggest are Wraith-only maps.
- Malady (Lv 55): The Forest of Evil II (23), The Forest of Evil I (15). Maladies are 11 levels above the quest, so expect slower kills at 44.
- Dark Axe Stump (Lv 23): East Rocky Mountain V (25), East Rocky Mountain IV (23), East Rocky Mountain VI (17; mixed-level for the stumps: 3 Lv 37 Lupins, harmless at 44), East Rocky Mountain VII (15).
- Drake (Lv 50): Drake's Meal Table (23), The Tunnel That Lost Light I (20), Drake Hunting Ground (18), The Tunnel That Lost Light II (15; mixed-level: 7 Lv 62 Wild Kargos). Drake's Meal Table also has 10 Lv 62 Wild Kargos, so it's the densest but not the safest at 44. The Tunnel That Lost Light I (20 Drakes, plus Lv 40 Cold Eyes) has no Kargos.
- Mushmom (Lv 40, boss), the likely Mushmom Spore source (item text, not drop data): one spawn in Someone Else's House. See the Mushmom boss guide.
Where the items come from
The game data doesn't list monster drops, so treat these as hedged:
- Drake Skull: the item text calls it "the skull of a Drake", so Copper Drakes and Drakes are the likely source (unverified).
- Medicine With Weird Vibes: the item text says a Wraith leaves it behind. Malady's Experimental Frog: the item text ties it to Maladies. Likely sources, but there's no drop table to confirm them.
- Mushmom Spore: drop source not in the game data. The item text says it's "a spore from Mushmom", so Mushmom is the likely source (unverified).
- Pure Water: see where to get Pure Water.
- Drake's Blood, Moon Rock, Dragon Skin, Sap of Ancient Tree: drop source not in the game data, and community drop tables have nothing recorded for them either. The only lead is the quest text, which suggests asking the fairies in Ellinia about the Moon Rock. Otherwise you're relying on other players: Drake's Blood (+12 W.ATK for 5 min) and Sap of Ancient Tree (+12 M.ATK for 5 min) are tradeable consumables, so the Free Market is worth checking.
Is it worth it?
Steps 1 and 2: yes. Step 3: only if the materials are cheap for you. Our take assumes potions matter to you for bosses:
- 10 Elixirs + 15 Power Elixirs is real value. An Elixir restores 35% of HP and MP, a Power Elixir restores 100%. Each has a 30-second cooldown after use, so they're emergency heals, not your main pots.
- 9,940 EXP per step is about 2.3% of a level at 44 (428,280 EXP to level), so roughly 7% for the whole chain. The potions are the real reward.
- Step 3 ends in a random scroll: half the outcomes are the wrong attack type for your class, and the Greater versions only work 10% of the time. The Intermediate ones succeed 60% of the time for +2 weapon attack (gloves attack) or +4 magic attack (gloves magic attack).
