Weapon Scrolls by Weapon Type in MapleStory Classic World: All 14 Types
Classic World has one attack scroll family per weapon type, 14 types in all, each in Lesser, Intermediate, Greater and Chaos: 56 weapon scrolls. Every weapon in the launch data has 7 upgrade slots, except the quest-only Old Gladius, which has no upgrade slots listed. Physical weapon scrolls give +1 / +2 / +4 / +5 weapon attack; wand and staff scrolls give +2 / +4 / +8 / +10 magic attack.
Quick answer: El Moth in The Tree That Grew III sells the Lesser for every weapon type (25,000–60,000 mesos depending on type and price list). For Intermediates and Greaters we found only quest sources (drops aren't in the game data): Jane and the Mushroom (20) rolls one random Intermediate out of 14, while Building a New House For Blackbull and Taking Out the Alligators 1 (both 48) let you pick a Greater for your class. There's no weapon scroll recipe.
General scrolling mechanics are in the scrolling guide. This page is the per-weapon reference.
The weapon ladder is steeper than armor
Weapon scrolls don't follow the +1/+2/+3/+4 steps that gloves and accessories use. In the launch data a Greater weapon scroll gives +4 attack and a Chaos gives +5; for wands and staves it's +8 and +10 magic attack. If you've seen +3 quoted for a Greater weapon scroll, that's not what the Classic tooltip says. Lesser and Intermediate are the same +1 and +2 as everywhere else. What that does to the tier math is in scroll tiers explained.
Seven Lessers on a weapon give a guaranteed +7 attack (+14 magic attack on a wand or staff). Seven Intermediates average +8.4, but all seven land only 2.8% of the time, and you end below the Lesser total 29% of the time.
How to get weapon scrolls
El Moth (Lesser only)
El Moth stands in The Tree That Grew III and stocks the Lesser for all 14 weapon types. Shop prices aren't in the game data, and two community shop lists agree on the stock but not the prices. One list is labelled as launch prices; the other is lower across the board. We can't tell you which is current, so check El Moth's window before you budget. Either way a Lesser costs 25,000 to 60,000 mesos:
| Weapon types | Launch-labelled price list | Lower community price list |
|---|---|---|
| One-handed sword, axe, blunt weapon; dagger | 30,000 | 25,000 |
| Wand, staff | 60,000 | 25,000 |
| Two-handed sword, axe, blunt weapon; spear; polearm; bow; crossbow; claw | 60,000 | 50,000 |
Neither community shop list shows any shop selling weapon scrolls above Lesser.
Quests
| Quest | Level | NPC | Reward | How it's given |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jane and the Mushroom | 20 | Jane, Lith Harbor | One Intermediate weapon scroll | One at random from 14, so a 1 in 14 shot at your own weapon |
| Building a New House For Blackbull | 48 | Blackbull, Perion | One Greater weapon scroll | You choose one for your class |
| Taking Out the Alligators 1 | 48 | Ayan, Perion | One Greater weapon scroll | You choose one for your class |
The two level 48 quests filter the list by class: Warriors see the sword, axe, blunt, spear and polearm scrolls, Magicians wand and staff, Bowmen bow and crossbow, Thieves dagger and claw. Forgotten Hollow: some community sources list a level 39 quest, Welcome to the Hollow, with a Greater weapon scroll reward. It isn't in the launch quest data, so treat it as unverified.
Chaos weapon scrolls exist in the data, but we found no quest, shop or recipe that gives one.
Crafting
None. No Arcforge recipe in the launch data makes a weapon scroll.
Weapon scrolls by type
All 14 families work the same way; only the stat and the El Moth price differ. Success rates and effects from the launch data:

| Greater | 10% | +4 | +8 | slot used up |
| Chaos | 10% | +5 | +10 | slot used up; 50% chance the item is destroyed |
| Weapon type | Class | Lesser | Intermediate | Greater | Chaos | El Moth Lesser price (launch-labelled / lower list) |

Which tier should you use?
Per slot, the expected gain is what decides it (physical weapons; double everything for wands and staves):
- Lesser: +1.0, guaranteed. Seven of them give exactly +7.
- Intermediate: +1.2 on average (60% × 2). Slightly better on average than a Lesser, but swingy: you finish below the all-Lesser total 29% of the time.
- Greater: +0.4 on average (10% × 4). Worse than a Lesser in every slot you spend it on.
- Chaos: +0.5 on average (10% × 5), with a 50% chance to destroy the weapon on a fail.
Verdict: scroll a weapon you'll keep with Lessers, or with Intermediates if you're happy to gamble a little for a slightly higher average. Don't put a Greater on a keeper weapon: even the free one from a level 48 quest loses about 0.6 attack per slot on average compared with a 25,000 to 60,000-meso Lesser. Chaos has no known source anyway.
