Back in the day, playing Maple on a Mac meant Boot Camp and a prayer. Classic World supports macOS officially, through both the Nexon Launcher and Steam. Our team plays on Mac too, so here's what you need to know.

Minimum Mac specs

Steam lists macOS Sequoia 15.0 and an Apple Silicon M1 chip as the minimum, with 8 GB of RAM (16 GB recommended) and 60 GB of free space. Intel Macs aren't on the list.

Setup

Nexon Launcher (recommended on Mac): install the Nexon Launcher, log in, find MapleStory in your library, switch on the Classic World toggle and download.

Steam: install MapleStory from your library, then pick Classic World when you launch.

Known issues (from Nexon's macOS list)

Nexon still labels macOS support as a beta and keeps a known-issues list. As of October 21, 2026:

  • macOS 27 "Golden Gate" and Steam: players on macOS 27 can't start MapleStory through Steam. Fix: install through the Nexon Launcher first, which prompts you to install Rosetta. After that, Steam works normally.
  • FPS drops: some players see lower framerates. Nexon suggests turning off all in-game sound settings, which may help.
  • Cmd+M minimizes the game: with "Auto Key Activation" on, the macOS shortcut Cmd+M can minimize the client mid-fight. Watch out if you bind M.

The October 21 update (macOS client v.0.0.39) fixed a full-screen problem on some aspect ratios when launching Classic World through Steam.
