How to Get Weighted Earrings (or Yellow Square) in MapleStory Classic World

Weighted Earrings come from Mother's Gold Watch, the end of Alex's runaway-kid chain at level 18. The reward is random: either Weighted Earrings or Yellow Square, with equal weight in the quest data. It's the only quest that rewards either pair in the game data (shop stock and drop tables aren't in the data), and you'll want Weighted Earrings specifically if you plan to do the Leaf Earrings quest.

Quick answer: Level 18+. Talk to Alex on a Kerning City rooftop, then Chief Stan at the Henesys entrance (kill 25 Green and 25 Blue Mushrooms, bring 15 of each cap). Take the Old Gold Watch back to Alex for Weighted Earrings or Yellow Square.

Neither pair is class- or gender-locked. Like most early quest gear, you can earn it a couple of levels before you can wear it.

Step 1 pays 819 EXP and 409 mesos; steps 2 and 3 pay 1,170 EXP and 585 mesos each (3,159 EXP total, about 23% of a level at 18). For the mushrooms, the cleanest dense maps are Tree Dungeon, Forest Up North IV (31 Green Mushrooms, only Slimes besides) and The Blue Mushroom Forest (16 Blue Mushrooms); the full spawn list is in the Alex the Runaway Kid guide.

Why Weighted Earrings matter later
